To help you navigate the seemingly endless sea of apps out there, we feature the ones that we believe would be most beneficial to you when running your business in our Mobile App Series TechRecs. This month we will cover AirDroid, Daemonsync and Greenify.
AirDroid
In our hyper-connected world, everyone has their smart phone or tablet propped up next to their workstation so they don’t miss a text, call or email while working. AirDroid allows Android phone or tablet users to access and manage their device from Windows, Mac or the Web wirelessly. You can transfer files, answer calls, and send and receive SMS texts from your PC. The app functions as a web server, allowing your Android device to connect wirelessly to your computer. To connect, install the app on both your PC and device, click on the QR code on your phone to turn on the camera and aim at the QR code on your PC. It’s that simple. AirDroid is free in the Google Play Store.
Daemonsync
Syncing from your smart device to you cloud account is a common process these days. What happens if you want to do a local syc to a PC on the same WiFi network as your smartphone? Daemonsync is an app/server combination that allows you to easily sync folders, videos and folders from your device to your PC without connecting to your cloud storage. The Daemon server runs on your computer and smartphone and allows your devices to speak directly to each other. The platform supports Android, iOS, Windows, OS X, and Linux, so virtually all of your devices can share files. Sync is as quick as your Wi-Fi connection. You can manually sync your files or you can set the app to automatically sync each time both your computer and smartphone are on the same wireless network. Daemonsync is free in both iTunes and Google Play Store.
Greenify
Have you noticed the battery life on your Android has gotten shorter as you download more and more apps? Greenify helps you identify which apps are sucking the life out of your device and puts them into hibernation when they aren’t in use. Once you launch the app, an app analyzer screen appears. You have the option to Greenify, Enjoy or Forget each application. If you choose to “enjoy” an app, Greenify won’t hibernate it when not in use. Select to ignore it and Greenify will take care of your housekeeping and remove the app for you. Greenify is free in the Google Play Store.
